Who is Amphitria?

Amphitria was imagined as the female double of Amphitryon. But then who is Amphitryon?

Amphitryon is a character in Greek mythology, king of Tiryns, renowned for his strength and bravery. His story is mainly associated with the legend of the love between his wife, Alcmene, and the god Zeus: Zeus, desiring Alcmene, took the appearance of Amphitryon and spent a night with her while the real Amphitryon was on campaign.

Alcmene then gave birth to twins, Heracles (Hercules) fathered by Zeus, and Iphicles, conceived by Amphitryon. The story of Amphitryon has been treated in various literary and dramatic works, including Molière's comedy "Amphitryon".
