Amphitria loves Gluckligluck
Gluckigluck is giving a new lease of life to the legendary Gluggle Jug, a fish-shaped jug that makes a cheerful gurgling sound when water is poured! A British cult object for over 150 years, it seduces with its playful and timeless charm.
Having fallen in love with this jug during a family brunch in 2011, Sophie decided to introduce it to the whole of Europe. Today, Gluckigluck continues the tradition and artisanal manufacturing in England, while sharing a dose of humor and conviviality at every table.
The Gluckigluck story began in 2011 in Berlin, during a brunch where Sophie first discovered the famous “gurgling fish,” a typically British wedding gift. Seduced by its unique design and irresistible gurgling sound, she decided to make it accessible to the European public. These iconic jugs were born in the late 19th century in Staffordshire and were made famous by the Dartmouth Pottery, notably after being presented to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1958. Having become collector's items, they have also been used to promote brands such as Plymouth Gin.
When Wade Ceramics, the last historic manufacturer, closed in 2023, Sophie and her team took over the business and founded “The Gluggle Jug Factory” to preserve this heritage. To this day, each jug is still produced in England using traditional craftsmanship. Faced with Asian copies that lack the charm and authentic gurgling, Gluckigluck proudly defends the original—a synonym for quality, good humor, and the art of living.
